Christoph Bläsi, a computational linguist trained in Freiburg, Heidelberg, and Bielefeld in Germany, as well as in Brighton in the UK, had worked for over 12 years in the German publishing industry (digital publishing, information management). In 2004, he was appointed Professor of Book Studies at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg; since 2009, he has been Professor of Book Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Christoph Bläsi's current research areas include AI applications in publishing, economical and management aspects of educational publishing, scholarly publishing, and reading. Christoph Bläsi has spent semesters abroad in Pisa (1991) as a guest researcher, as well as in Edinburgh (Edinburgh Napier University) (2014) and in Rome (Università Roma Tre) (2025) as a guest professor.
