14-19 May master students and teachers have participated in the international summer school 2017 Perception of Public Interests: communicating to Persuade that was held in Latvia, at Turiba University. 60 students and teachers from academic partners from Vilnius University, Turība University, Estonian Business School, Tartu University, Uppsala University have joined activities in Riga.
The program of the Summer School was dedicated to the research of public interests and convincing communication in the public interests, and to seperation of propaganda and manipulation from ethical communication. Students had the opportunity to visit the soviet bunker, national Latvian TV, European Parliament Information Office in Riga. They have met and had lectures, discussions on important issues in society with communication and public relations practitioners.
Sara Helen (master student at Faculty of Communication) says about week in Riga: "I would recommend other students to take part in such activities, since this is an environment where you can meet students from different cultures, different schools, which brings a different views, different perspectives, opinions that enriches you. I certainly have gained new knowledge and experience. My interests are related to environmental communication, so the laboratory for environmental and cultural areas got me the most‘‘.

The international summer school is a part of activities of network Strategic communication competencies for leadership (SCCL) established under NordPlus Higher Education programme framework at 2015 and coordinated by Faculty of Communication and four foreign partners.
