The history of museology shows two moments of important paradigmatic change: around 1900 when museum work was defined as a profession, and around 1970 when a new social role of museums was emphasized. It seems as if we are witnessing a new paradigmatic change, initiated by the new information technology. How does this affect theory, practice and ethics of museum work?
